Thank you to Cheri Golub, chairperson for the Walk for Food Allergy in Long Branch, NJ, on September 11, 2010 for sending the following press release and nut-free baseball information.

Walk for Food Allergy to Kickoff Fundraising with the Lakewood BlueClaws
Public Invited to Nut-Free Baseball Game

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (February 26, 2010) -- The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) and the Allergy and Asthma Support Group of Central NJ (AASG-CNJ) will host a fundraising event at the Lakewood BlueClaws’ Game, 1:05 p.m., Sunday, June 6, 2010 at FirstEnergy Park, Lakewood.  In an effort to help protect allergic fans and in honor of all individuals with food allergies, the BlueClaws will have ingredients list available for every food item sold.  That day, all items sold at the concession stands will be peanut- and tree nut-free.  This is the second time the BlueClaws has sponsored a nut-free game and a food allergy awareness event.

Tickets are $10.00 and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the FAAN Walk for Food Allergy: Moving Toward a Cure in Long Branch, on Saturday, September 11, 2010.

The game against the Greensboro Grasshoppers will begin at 1:05 p.m.  Fans are advised to arrive early as this will also be “Kids Expo and Zoo Claws Day,” which will feature music, fun, games, and more.  This day is also Kids Character Sunday and Kids Eat Free Sunday.  Mr. RAY, a children’s singer/songwriter will perform during the seventh- inning stretch and will throw out the first pitch.

To raise awareness of food allergies, the BlueClaws has reserved 400 seats in the same section so fans with Walk team shirts or banners will have an opportunity to be on the stadium’s live monitor.  Seats will be washed down prior to the game to ensure that there will be no food residue, which has the potential to cause reactions to severely allergic children.  Tickets must be purchased at least 48 hours in advance; For more information on purchasing tickets, contact CherĂ Golub, Walk chairperson, at 732-239-8374 or longbranchchair@foodallergy.org.  Tickets will be available for pick up at Will Call.
