Tacoma Rainiers Add August 25 Peanut Controlled Game

From Michael San Soucie (a big thanks to Michael!):

"Please put Wednesday, August 25th on your calendar to come out to Cheney Stadium and watch the future Mariners in action.  At Cheney Stadium you are much closer to the action than at Safeco Field so it is a great opportunity for the kids to feel like that are right in on the action.

Brief details are that we will have our own section of the grandstand that will be roped off just for us (approximately 130 seats).  This section will be peanut free so not peanuts or peanut products.  But unlike previous years, you will be able to bring other foods into this section so you won't miss the game.  Ticket price will be $9.95 and will include either a food coupon for a hot dog, chips, and soda or an option of a souvenir instead for those unable to eat the food items.  More details on this specific piece and on how to order your tickets will follow shortly.

What a great way to bring summer to a close right before heading back to school.  The Rainiers have been on fire lately and are currently in 1st place.  So plan to come out and support them as they make a run toward the playoffs."

Frederick Keys Peanut-Free Night is June 24, 2010

Thanks to Meg at the Frederick Allergy and Asthma Center for sharing the following press release.
Frederick Allergist Sponsors Peanut-Free Night at Keys Game

Frederick, MD – (June 18, 2010) When it comes to the dangers of food allergies, Dr. Lourdes Brigida Hunter wants Keys fans to know the score.  For someone who is allergic to peanuts, a fun night at the ballpark can turn into a medical emergency.

“An allergic reaction to peanuts can cause symptoms ranging from minor irritation to a life-threatening condition called anaphylaxis,” said Dr. Hunter, a board-certified allergist.

“People with peanut allergies are always at risk of having a serious reaction, even if symptoms have been mild in the past.” An allergist can conduct a skin test to confirm the existence or non-existence of peanut allergy.

To raise awareness about the dangers of peanut allergies, Dr. Hunter is sponsoring the second annual “peanut-free night” at the Frederick Keys baseball game at on Thursday, June 24.  Game time is 7pm. The Keys will be taking on the Winston-Salem Dash in the first of a three-game series.  To prepare for the event, Harry Grove Stadium will be washed down multiple times prior to the game to create a safe, peanut-free environment for allergy sufferers.  Members of Dr. Hunter’s staff will be on hand to provide information about allergies and award a door prize.  One of Dr. Hunter’s patients will have the honor of throwing out the first pitch of the game. Another will be showcased in a video shown on the JumboTron.

“We are so pleased to join with the Frederick Allergy and Asthma Center for this annual special event,” Keys Director of Public Relations Adam Pohl said. “We want the ballpark to be a place for everyone. A special night like this gives those who suffer with these allergies a time to get out and enjoy a professional baseball game with family and friends.”

Frederick Allergy and Asthma Center is located at 201 Thomas Johnson Drive in Frederick.  For more information call 301-360-0776 or www.frederickallergy.com.

Seattle Mariners Offer 4 Peanut Allergy Friendly Games in 2010

From our friend, Michael San Soucie, in Washington state:

"...tickets for our Peanut Controlled games are on sale now at www.mariners.com/nopeanuts.  The Mariners have been making some exciting moves this offseason and bring a lot of new players to spring training this year.  Cliff Lee, Chone Figgins, Casey Kotchman, Brandon League, Milton Bradley, and Eric Byrnes are all new faces that should make the Mariners very competitive this year.  It should be exciting and fun!  Not only that, but the Mariners have given us some pretty darn good games this season.

Sunday, May 2nd vs. Texas Rangers @ 1:10pm - a day game for those with younger kids, it is also Little League Day and all kids 14 & under get a free player poster upon entering the stadium.  Plus I hope to provide more details soon about how your little leaguer can walk down on the field prior to the game if you feel safe doing this.

Friday, June 4th vs. Los Angeles Angels @ 7:10pm - this game is going to be packed and lots of fun!  Not only is it a Friday night game against our main division rival, but it is also Felix Hernandez Train Night - the first 20,000 fans entering the ballpark receive a train car with the likeness of King Felix on it.  This train car night has been one of the more popular giveaway nights the last few years for the Mariners.

Wednesday, July 21st vs. Chicago White Sox @ 7:10pm - Kids are out of school, weather should be nice since it will be after the 4th of July, so come on out and enjoy a night at the ballpark on Family Pack Night.

Tuesday, August 10th vs. Oakland A's @ 7:10pm - Another great game against another division opponent.  At this time during the upcoming season, the Mariners should be attempting to pull away from the rest of their division and increasing their lead in the American League West.  Come cheer them on as they shoot to make the playoffs in 2010.

Hope to see a great turnout at all these games to show the Mariners how much we appreciate their efforts in providing this opportunity to watch Major League Baseball in a bit of a safer and more comfortable environment.  GO M'S!"

Thank you, Michael!
